Internet lottery group Lottoland announced this week that a punter hit a huge €90 million jackpot after she hit all five numbers on the EuroJackpot Lottery drawing.
The win took place on June 1st and was hit by a punter named Christina from Berlin, Germany. The previous high prize was a €14 million, which was also hit by a German punter. Lottoland uses an insurance company to help fund the jackpots on their site, as they don't have the ability to directly sell tickets to lotteries in outside countries. These lottery policies will handle the bulk of the lottery payout to the winner, and came after Lottoland upped their coverage to €120 million last August to cover a massive win such as this. It's likely that Lottoland's insurance premiums will be going up as the claim will be paid out.
There's no doubt that Lottoland will use the win to enhance their marketing efforts, as they can now tout the largest jackpot win ever on the internet, including slot machine jackpots like the Mega Moolah Mega, which currently holds the all-time record.
We'll be keeping up on the win and updating readers as more developments arise.
