Sweden's Gambling Numbers Up for 2017

Today Sweden's regulator Lotteriinspektionen revealed the country's 2017 betting numbers, revealing that online numbers were up 11.4% from the year prior.

Key financial indicators for the year ending December 31st, 2017 were:

  • Gross gaming revenues of SEK17.22 billion, up 0.35% from the year prior
  • Online revenues of SEK10.3 billion. Of that SEK4.8 billion from licensed sites, and SEK5.5 billion from international sites
  • Svenska Spel (a state-sanctioned company) brought in revenues of SEK7.85 billion up slightly from the year prior.
  • Adults spend 2.18% of their disposable income on gambling on average, down slightly from the year prior.

The country is planning on opening their market, having submitted rules to open gaming licensing on August 1st before implementing the new laws on January 1st of next year.

I think that numbers are quite impressive for a market which already has been developed and it's one of the leading ones in Europe really, so it's not easy the growing numbers to be achieved year after year I think.
