Poland Picks Playtech for State Monopoly Contract

This story was published more than 5 years ago.

The government of Poland announced this week that they have chosen Playtech to provide technology for their online monopoly betting platform.

The choice will see Playtech developing a full online gambling platform for Poland's "eKasyno", which will feature online casino, poker, and bingo products. The development comes about a year after the country authorized the games to be offered to players through the Totalizator Sportowy monopoly. The site is expected to launch with the games later this year.

The choice of Playtech is interesting, as the group provides software to some of the sites that are featured on the 1,550 blacklisted sites in the country.

Playtech's Mor Weizer hailed the choice, saying it gives his company more credibility, noting that it will help lessen their reliance on grey markets.

Yeah quite weird isn't it, that's huge number of banned sites by the way, don't think the monopoly is good for the players though.
