Internet poker group PokerStars is gearing up to hit the Indian poker market by partnering with Sugal & Damani, this according to website poker GLaws.in.
Sugal & Damani is a subsidiary of Sachar Gaming Private Limited, which currently oversees online rummy services in the country as well as lotteries and other unrelated ventures. The two companies will work together to bring the PokerStars brand to the country. Sugal had run khelplay, which was active until Thursday when it shut down to allow for PokerStars to enter the market
The domain for the site will be pokerstars.in, and has not officially launched operations as of yet. The Indian market is appealing, as there are more than 1.3 billion people within its borders. This gels well with the PokerStars platform, which is the largest poker site in the world, holding roughly 2/3 the real money market.
Neither party officially commented on the agreement as of press time, but we'll update readers as we learn more.

What can I say, it should be a huge deal even for a monster company like PokerStars who are already some sort of a monopolists at the world poker market but entering a huge country like India surely should be a score even for them.
