Net Gaming Sells "The Battle of Malta" to Casino Malta

Betting group Casino Malta this week announced that they've signed a purchase agreement with Net Gaming Europe AB to obtain the branding and doman for the popular poker tournament 'The Battle of Malta' for €300,000.

The tournament has grown in popularity for each of the five years that it's been in existence and is run by the poker website PokerListings (no relation to us). PokerListings is owned by Highlight Media, which is owned by Net Gaming Europe AB. The tournament takes place in November, with the last winner being Nadav Lipszyc, who pocketed €200,000.

Speaking about the deal Highlight Media CEO Erij Gjerde noted: "We are pleased with the sale. For Highlight Media, it is important to focus on our main business, which is operating high-quality comparison sites online. Highlight Media has successfully made Battle of Malta one of Europe's largest poker tournaments in its segment, and we feel that another owner can take the event to the next level."

Not much into poker these days but obviously this looks to be a huge deal and the group Casino Malta arguably should be quite happy to obtain the rights for a such well known tournament.
