Lithuania Will Tighten Gambling Controls

This story was published more than 6 years ago.

The government of Lithuania has tightened its gambling control this week after the country's parliament passed legislation to expand restrictions.

The new measures were unanimously approved and will serve as amendments to the Law on Gaming. The changes will require all existing land casino machines to connect into an electronic control system that will allow regulators to monitor data. The move is being made with the hopes of increasing accounting transparency as well as data security and responsible gaming supervision.

Speaking about the matter Lithuania Finance Minister Vilius Sapoka said, "Adoption of the amendments will ensure more fair gaming operations, more effective money laundering prevention, transparent and effective accounting and control system."

The measure will be voluntary beginning November 1st, 2019 and is slated to become obligatory on November 1st, 2021.

I don't know if this is a good news for the lithuanian players. Since 2015 when romanian government intervened, we have just 19 online casinos where we are able to play 😢
