Madman Kills at Least 50 on Vegas Strip

Late last night a deranged gunman opened fire into a concert in Las Vegas, killing at least 50 people and wounding more than 400.

The shooter has been identified as Stephen Paddock, a 64 year old man whose motives are not immediately known. He was situated in a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino and opened fire into a country music concert that was taking place across the street. Paddock fired several volleys of automatic gunfire into the crowd as star Jason Aldean was wrapping up his set, concluding a three-day music festival.

Witnesses claim the gunshots sounded like firecrackers, only they didn't stop. Paddock fired into the crowd for an estimated 4 minutes, 30 seconds before turning the gun on himself.

Concert attendees fled the scene, and chaos ensued around the Las Vegas Strip. For a time there was false information that more than one shooter was present and that gunshots were occurring at other resorts. Ambulances and law enforcement flooded the scene and the Strip was shut down for several hours.

The incident is the largest mass-shooting event in American history.

We'll be updating this story as more developments arise.

It happens again and again...don't know even how to comment that...4m and 30 sec is a eternity for a gun shooting.

It's crazy, isn't it?

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a gun guy. I own a pistol, a rifle, and a shotgun. But I think there needs to be some common sense reform on the laws we have related to firearms in this country.

We're at a time when people on all sides of the issue need to come together and at least have a healthy debate on the issue and put forth some reform.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of the gun business lobby will keep that from happening. It's disgusting. All of it.

Man I am so sorry for you guys in America slim. You have serious problems and from the outside it doesn't look like there is much will to solve them. Take a look at this to put it in perspective.

I don't know what you're going to do though. The cat is too far out of the bag on the gun control issue. Its not like you can just make them all disappear and good luck trying to get the second amendment zealots to hand them in voluntarily.

Yeah, there's no easy fix here for sure. Like you said, there's no way to stop guns from being in people's hands at this point. Certainly, we could strengthen the rules for background checks and rules for buying from private individuals. We also need to make it illegal to get the bump fire stocks and large magazines. I'm sorry, but there's no reason for someone to have a drum that can hold 50 or 100 rounds.

Ah, this is shocking... I am not a US citizen, nor living in US, but, in my memory, the mass killing in a night club is still vivid, and even worse crime has just happened. Tragedy...
