Australian betting group Crown Resorts has announced that they're planning on launching an online lottery service through its sportsbetting company CrownBet.
The product has been in development for some time and could launch at any time. The service will be dubbed CrownLotto, and will compete with Lottoland as a way to bet on the outcome of a traditional lottery drawing. The service will be available on desktop and mobile devices and will provide another arm for Crown Resorts to continue their gaming expansion.
The Australian Financial Review had some details on the product, quoting a Crown employee who said CrownLotto "meet the clear and growing customer demand that is driven by huge jackpots in overseas draws". The employee also revealed that the group will contribute some of its earnings to charitable causes.
Crown is looking to find new ways to create revenue, as the company reported losses over their last fiscal year compared to 2015.
We'll update this story as we learn more about the launch.
