Betsafe Signs Conor McGregor to Ambassador Deal

Internet betting group Betsafe has announced that they have signed MMA fighter Conor McGregor to a sponsorship deal, making him an Official Ambassador for the company.

The deal comes just before McGregor faces off in a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather on August 26th, and will run for the next 18 months. The deal will have Betsafe's logo appearing on McGregor's shorts for the upcoming fight. The company will also feature the fighter in an array of marketing campaigns over the course of the deal.

Speaking about the agreement McGregor said, "Today I'm happy to announce that I'm partnering up with Betsafe. It is an honour for me to be an Ambassador for this great brand. Although real gamblers know the odds are stacked against them, we also know that passion overcomes the odds."

Betsafe's Managing Director Nicola Fitton also commented, noting: "We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Conor McGregor. Conor is one of the biggest athletes in the world today, defined by his extreme talent, work ethic and personality, which are values that we reflect every day at Betsafe. We firmly believe that passion always overcomes the odds, and there is no sports star in the world today that both inspires and embodies passion as much as Conor."

"It's a pleasure to be a part of Team McGregor and we very much look forward to being in his corner over the next 18 months."

Betsafe has been adding brand sponsorships to their portfoloio, as the company has deals in place with Cage Warriors, Sarcens, Jimi Manusa, and Tony Bellew.

Wow I'm afraid that's not the one of the things you have to say after signing a sponsorship deal with betting company 😂 although maybe McGregor i so popular just because of that - have a big mouth 😉

Yeah I was really surprised to read that line too! And I don't know about "passion overcoming the odds" either. How about intelligence or sharp betting, or just plain luck?

Quite right Ed, notice that sentence either but I thought my English is too bad.. 🙂

I guess he speaks from a fighter point of view, when you're underdog on the ring, yeah the passion could hep there, not from a punter point of view which is not logic of course when is about that particular news.

Never saw McGregor's fight but I guess he don't have enough passion to overcome the Mayweather's odds.
The fight of the year they use to call it, I'm not so sure because it's about boxing and Mayweather is still unbeaten while McGregor is a MMA and not clear boxer.

Maywheater is known for his gambling too...

You're right. The whole thing is just a money making farce. Restricting the rules to boxing takes away about 90% of what a MMA fighter is good at, and then you're putting him up against one of the world's best boxers. While he might land a lucky king hit knockout, I would be shocked if Mayweather didn't win and I think that even 1.22 is far too generous. Maybe they should have a rematch with MMA rules and see who wins that?

If I'm Mayweather not going to that rematch, never-mind the prize Ed 😨

You could be knoked-out quite worsh with a kick in the head instead of fist, quite sure in that 😕

Bu then again if I'm Mayweather and I'm going to that rematch - would bet against myself first 😉

Maybe Conor McGregor has more boxing experience than we thought, most of these MMA fighters coming from boxing...not that this would make it even though.

You could be right Ed, but is that draw odds presence could be some kind of a catch...
