UK Competition Group Will Drop Hammer on Some Casino Groups

This story was published more than 6 years ago.

The UK Competition and Markets Authority has announced that they are gearing up to take action against a number of online betting groups that have breached consumer laws in the country.

The group revealed that they have identified five different online betting operators for those breaches, which can include misleading promotions, predatory terms, and blocking player payouts on winnings. The CMA didn't reveal which companies were being targeted for action, but did note that they partnered with the UK Gambling Commission in their investigation. This led to the regulator warning operators that they risked violation if they only asked for ID documents from players only when the punter requested a payout.

The watchdog group may end up taking the offending companies to court, where they could see their gaming license affected or face fines and other punitive measures.

Casino Listings will update this story as we learn more about the investigation.

I'm glad that at least in some countries there is a strict rules for protecting the punters and in fact they're being implemented by the respective authorities, that's not a priority where I'm leaving never been and probably never will be so...I really could appreciate it.
