Cambodia to Build $200 Million Casino

This story was published more than 6 years ago.

This week it was revealed that casino group Virtue Resources Corp. is planning to build a $200 million casino resort in Cambodia near the border with Vietnam with the hopes of bringing Vietnamese punters through their doors.

The resort is being planned for Bavet City, Cambodia and is situated on a 50-hectare piece of property. The resort will reportedly create 3,000 jobs and will feature a large land casino for players. VRC chose the project based on the strength of the Vietnamese economy, which it believes will continue to grow for the next 10 years.

Currently, Cambodia has an existing gambling industry, although it caters exclusively to foreigners, as current gaming laws prevent locals from play.

The project is set to begin this year, with the first phase set for completion by the end of 2019.

I thought Cambodia is one of the poorest regions in the world but maybe they will count only on Vietnam tourists for that although why they just build that ultra modern casino there 🤷 if the locals can't play anyway.
