UK Postal Worker Charged With Stealing £134,177 to Gamble

This week a postman in Edinburgh was charged with stealing £134,177 from his local office in order to gamble online on sports.

Daryl Louden, 26, was charged with stealing the money over the course of eight months last year. He was caught after he declined promotions within the branch and his superiors became suspicious. They launched an investigation and realized the funds were missing. When they confronted Louden, he admitted to stealing, and noted that he did so in order to feed his online sportsbetting addiction.

Louden is currently on bail awaiting sentencing, with Deputy Anthony Steel telling the defendant, "You must appreciate this was a very serious breach of trust".

Casino Listings urges anyone who thinks that they, or someone they know may have a gambling problem to seek assistance. We have a page dedicated to the topic, along with links to outside assistance groups that can be found here.

We will update this story as we learn more about the sentencing phase of the case.

I'm disgusted to see more and more of this here in the news lately, OK the addiction is one thing but that amount is probably more than what this guy is getting paid in a 4-5 years so it's a large amount steal and you have to stop somewhere before breaking the law.
Believe me I'm an online sports betting punter and one of the most addicted one too - I'm staking almost every day for around 20 years so... I think I know what is in this guy head but I still can't excuse what he had done...

That is a lot of money to steal, I mean it is obvious that he would be caught for such crime.
