The state of Delaware closed out 2016 in style by posting higher revenues than the year prior, capping off the First State's most profitable year for online betting to date.
The Delaware State Lottery revealed that casinos in the state won $229,987 in online gaming in December, which was up 29% from the same time in 2015. The three online betting sites had 298 new accounts signed up, which was down from the average of 303 new accounts. For the year, Delaware online betting revenues totaled $2,906,885, which was up 62% from 2015.
Delaware's online gaming industry has struggled to match the results of states with larger populations like New Jersey, with the state failing to take in any tax revenues, as the casinos have failed to even hit floors for revenues needed to pay in. The results are continuing to rise though, so maybe 2017 will be the year we see Delaware's online betting industry take off.
