Brazil Pushes Back Gambling Reform Bill

This story was published more than 7 years ago.

Politicians in Brazil dealt gambling reform a bit of a blow this week when Bill PLS 186/2014 was returned to the House Committee on Constitution, Justice, and Citizenship for more discussion until at least next year.

The bill was sent back by the Senate with a vote margin of 44-19, and strikes a defeat for those looking for a fast track to gambling liberalization in the country. Last month the Special Committee for National Development passed a version of the bill that would open up the industry more. Gambling laws in Brazil have not been updated in more than 25 years, leaving the country of 200 million people in the dark when it comes to things such as online betting regulations.

Speaking about the matter Deputy Jao Carlos Bacelar Batista said, "This is not the time to say that we will not discuss it or that we need to discuss it further. That has passed. We need to decide now. There has been a monumental delay in making a decision on this."

Casino Listings will keep on this story and keep readers informed as more details on Brazil gaming regulations as they arise.

That says it all really, most people don't even had a PC back then so how the hell we could expect to have an online gambling legalization there after the law is quarter century old!
This is not only a Brazil issue but for many countries across the world.
