888Poker Will Partner With eSports Groups

This story was published more than 3 years ago.

Internet poker site 888Poker has announced that they're signing a partnership deal with eSports streamer Flow eSports, which will pit the online betting site closer to the fast growing betting phenomenon.

Flow eSports has become a streamer of the card game Hearthstone, with more than 10,000 viewers every week on Twitch. The agreement will see some of the eSports team working to play poker on their stream, with Johannes Steindl and Daniel Märkisch playing the games using the 888Poker interface.

Online betting companies have been quick to latch onto the eSports industry, as the activity brings in thousands of younger viewers, which they see as an opportunity to offer their services to. In addition to attracting players to games like poker, many betting sites are offering wagers on tournaments, which are watched by millions throughout the world.

Yes eSports becoming in something like phenomenon lately and I could understand why leading bookies are ready to take advantage of that although as an old school punter I'm not exactly fascinating by it.
