Chinese Police Shut Down $72 Billion Gambling Promotion Ring

This week police in China undertook a massive operation to break up a gambling promotion ring that worked to send wealthy Chinese punters to foreign countries in order to gamble, which had seen more than $72 billion wagered.

The raids saw 94 people arrested, and an assortment of other evidence was seized as well. It is thought that 400 Chinese whales had used the service to travel to the Asian countries of Laos and Myanmar, where more than $72 billion USD had been wagered.

China has been cracking down on corruption and gambling in recent years, breaking up an assortment of gambling rings and reigning in the extravagance in spending that has been seen in areas such as Macau. Recently the country's law enforcement teams arrested eighteen people associated with the Australian betting group Crown Resorts for violating gambling laws.

Seems like there's a lot of going down there in China, Asia is the continent where the illegal gambling activity is a higher one so not really surprised to read all that above, obviously really huge ring have been busted in these police raids.
