Unibet Parent Company to Change Name

This story was published more than 7 years ago.

Internet betting group Unibet has announced that they are planning to change their formal business name to the Kindred Group, which will help to clarify the group's "synergy, clarity, and flexibility".

The name change was proposed by the company's board of directors, and would move from Unibet to a more generic name, which will complement the company's full portfolio of products. Currently the company holds the betting sites Unibet, MariaCasino, Bingo.com iGame, and Stan James.

Commenting on the potential change Unibet Group Chairman Anders Ström said, "In this rapidly changing industry, clarity is essential. This is why we now propose to change the name of our group company, thereby avoiding confusion and creating better conditions for our future growth. This is a minor and predominantly internal change as all the customer facing brands will remain the same. The change only relates to the group name."

A vote on the name change will take place during the company's annual meeting, which will be held on December 6th in Stockholm.

Obviously they in Unibet believes that change of the name will have a positive effect over their business or at least in some aspects of it, to be honest I don't see the benefit of that but I guess it certainly wont hurt the company as well.

Changing name is a big step and I believe that if they think they need to do it, there are definitely lots of valid reasons behind it.

Assuming there isn't any tax-dodging motivations behind this, what a waste of money. After they change the signs on the buildings, offices, emails, mugs, cups, and biscuit tins in the office, all the stationary, letterheads, web domains, polo shirts and everything else it will probably end up costing them millions.

I think you're right Ed, seem pointless to me too but in the end what are few millions when they will...clarify the group's "synergy, clarity, and flexibility". 😀

I didn't think of this but you're definitely right, it's a huge money they will have to pay for it all.
