Online Gaming Goes Live in Singapore

This story was published more than 7 years ago.

Internet gambling in Singapore went live this week, as the Singapore Pools began offering players services, while the Singapore Turf Club is set to begin offering bets to customers beginning November 15th.

The companies are one of the few granted the chance to offer online gambling services to their customers in the country, as the Remote Gambling Act has provisions in it that makes online gambling prohibited for most sites. Players who participate in the online betting must be 21 years old and have to go to a land destination to register their accounts.

The move comes as the government has realized that they cannot completely eliminate online gambling, and that it might be better to offer limited services in order to protect players and create tax revenues.

Singapore Pools will allow for sports bets as well as 4D and Toto, although casino games are not on offer.
