This week it was announced that the new online betting site Sunbets has launched in the UK, giving popular newspaper The Sun an online sportsbook and casino.
The website is up now and will be promoted beginning on August 6th, and will offer bets on various events, including the upcoming Barclay's Premier League season. The site is being operated by Tabcorp, which signed a 10 year deal with The Sun's parent company last year.
A heavy marketing campaign is set to commence imminently, with print, tv, radio, and online ads all set to push the casino's brand to punters.
Commenting on the launch News UK CEO Rebekah Brooks said, "This is a hugely significant juncture for News UK and The Sun, marking the start of an era where new brands and revenue generating streams are being created on the back of the strength and much sought-after reach of The Sun. Sun Bets is set to be a game-changer in the online betting world and to those asking if it will be a success, the simple answer is YouBetcha."
Tabcorp CEO David Attenborough also commented, noting: "The Sun has exceptional reach and is the right brand to partner with in taking our wagering capability to the UK."
