UK betting giant Ladbrokes has announced that they have signed a deal with the Football Association to become the group's Official Betting Partner.
The deal will become effective August 1st, and will see the betting firm get exclusive marketing rights for matches including the Emirates FA Cup. England is by far the most popular football club by country in the world, with more than 800 million fans. The Emirates FA Cup will see matches shown around the world, giving Ladbrokes important exposure that it will be sure to capitalize on.
Ladbrokes will also gain exclusive in-stadium betting rights for Wembley Stadium, an iconic draw that hosts some of the largest events in the world.
Commenting on the deal Ladbrokes CEO Jim Mullen said, "When I became CEO last year I announced that the Ladbrokes organic growth plan would require us to ramp up our marketing spend in those places where we know our customers are engaged. Being at the heart of football in this country is precisely what I had in mind. We're keen to invest where we know we can make a difference and this deal further strengthens the sporting passion that is evident throughout Ladbrokes."
FA CEO Martin Glenn also commented on the deal, saying: "This partnership with Ladbrokes comes at a time when The FA, as a not-for-profit organisation, is investing record levels back into football at all levels of the game. Ladbrokes join an outstanding portfolio of official FA partners, providing support across the England team, and the most famous cup competition in the world, The Emirates FA Cup."
