Gaming operator Sportech will continue to face a legal battle over a VAT Tax case with Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs agency, as the group announced that they will press their case to the Supreme Court following a defeat in the UK Court of Appeal.
The agency claims that Sportech owes the government £97 million in VAT tax payments that haven't been made. The case goes back to 2009, and the First-tier Tribunal Tax Chamber ruled in the operator's favor in 2013, with various other appeals pressing the case to this year.
In a statement Sportech addressed the case, noting: "Sportech will file its Notice of Objection to such application by next Monday, and has been advised that it should expect to hear by the Autumn whether HMRC has been granted the right to appeal to the Supreme Court."
