UK bookmaker William Hill has announced that it is pulling out of the British Columbian betting market, meaning that players in the Canadian province will no longer be able to use the site's services effective May 10th.
The announcement came via an email to the company's British Columbian customers, which read in part: "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you; however this decision has been taken for regulatory reasons beyond our control and with very short notice."
The company is basing its pull out on what it calls regulatory issues, seeing as how Canadian law limits online betting to lottery companies in each province. Right now Canada is debating whether to allow for sportsbetting, and it is possible that changing regulations could have caused the company to abandon the market.

I can't understand why there are all this restrictions everywhere? Just make them pay some reasonable taxes and let them exist.
It's not an easy life for the gambling companies which have to respect all the rules and laws in each respectiver country or even province. I think this is a big hit for William Hill's business in generally but anyway, they will survive that.
