PaddyPower-Betfair to Lay Off Employees

This story was published more than 7 years ago.

Recently merged online betting company PaddyPower-Betfair has announced that they will terminate roughly 650 jobs in the wake of the formation of the new company.

The jobs will eliminate redundancy in the newly formed company, and will see 300 jobs cut in Ireland, and 350 jobs in the UK let go in the near future. Combined, the company currently employs 7,200 people throughout the world. Those who will lose their jobs will get 4 weeks of salary for every year worked at the company in addition to an extra two weeks.

The combined company has the goal of reducing costs by €50 million annually and is looking to see where extra money can be cut.

It 's really a major workers redundancy, that's almost 10% of all their employees! I couldn't be more implicated to them because I'm jobless my self and know how many of these people felling right now. At least the compensation would make their life easier initially.
