Casino Manager Arrested for Stealing $28,000

This week a casino manager at the Poker Palace in the LaPlace Travel Center and Kenner Airport Casino was arrested after she was found to have stolen $28,000 from the casino's ATMs.

55 year old Renee Dibble was arrested on charges of felony theft after she was caught taking cash from the ATMs, which she was responsible for restocking. She began stealing money in $100 increments, but ended up eventually moving up $1,000 per theft as the scheme went on. The thefts took place due to the fact that Dibble herself has a gambling addiction.

The defendant opted to confess after it was revealed that an audit was taking place and she thought the theft would be revealed. Commenting on the arrest Lt. Brian McGregor of the Kenner Police Department said, "She stated she took the money because she, herself, has a gambling addiction. Once learning of the audit, she figured they would discover the thefts anyway, so she opted to confess."

Bail was set at $30,000, but Dibble was released on her own recognizance after it was revealed the jail was over crowded.

$28,000? A casino manager in USA? I don't know how much she earn on this position but i'm sure that this sum is not more than her wage for 2 months. I can't understand why she did this.

Very lucky escape in the end, released because of the jail was over crowded, I don't know First time that I hear such story. Certainly from her photo above not looking like a person I would be fancy in giving a key to any ATM Wink

I think you're either overestimating a U.S. worker's salary or her position. I suspect "manager" might not mean the person at the very top and I think this was a very small casino.

And I know America has a reputation for locking people up for the most minor things but letting her go home because the jail was overcrowded is hilarious!
