Internet betting software developer Microgaming has announced that it will be holding the third annual "Microgaming Soapbox Race", which is held in the town of Douglas, on the Isle of Man.

The race will be held on September 3rd, 2016, and registration is now open. The race sees participants designing strange soapbox cars, and the vehicles can hit up to 30 mph as they get down the track. Prizes are awarded for fastest time, strangest car, biggest jump, best crash, and "most botched kart". Proceeds raised from the race will help fund the Hyperbaric Isle of Man charity, which provides pressurized oxygen treatments to patients on the Isle.

Commenting on the race's announcement Event Organizer Elliott Moore said, "I am delighted that the Microgaming Soapbox Race is back for a third instalment. What started as just an idea has turned into an annual entertainment fixture that gathers huge crowds on the streets of Douglas, and importantly raises a great amount for a brilliant local charity. I'm busy planning the 2016 event, which is sure to be a great night out for all!"

I guess this race is a great fun for all the participants but probably for the crowd too. Never sit in one of these soapbox cars myself but it looking fun when I've had watched similar races on the TV.
