This week police in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Malaysia arrested three men for running an illegal gambling operation.
The three were arrested in a raid, which took place in the early morning hours of Wednesday. Police investigating the scene found 37 illegal slot machines, which were licensed to be only run at family entertainment centers.The men arrested were 34, 31, and a man in his 20's.
Commenting on the arrests, Johor Criminal Department Commissioner Karmarul Zaman Mamat said, "The two operators had violated the Johor State Enactment for committing the offence under Section 11(2) of the ruling and are liable to be punished with a fine of not less than RM10,000 and not more than RM50,000 or jailed up to five years or both, upon conviction."
In recent years Malaysia has cracked down on illegal gambling, which is running rampant across the Asian nation, where gambling is currently illegal, save for at the Genting Resort area.
