This week it was revealed that seven South Korean men were being extradited from Vietnam to face charges that they illegally operated an online betting ring.

The men are facing charges of running a sports betting site in Vietnam that offered services to Korean punters. The amounts of money wagered were thought to have reached at least 10 billion won ($8.23 million USD). The extradition is the first between the two countries. In addition to the suspects, evidence such as computers, cell phones, and ledgers were taken into custody.

Commenting on the arrests a police official said, "When a South Korean fugitive was arrested in Vietnam, it usually took more than a month, but this case was exceptional in that the extradition came only two days after the arrest, with a simplified procedure."
