Delaware Online Gaming Market Declines in 2015

Delaware's 2015 online gambling numbers have been released by the Delaware Lottery, noting that gaming revenues decreased when compared to 2014.

For 2015 the state's online casinos generated $1.8 million, which is 14% less than the $2.1 million that was brought in during 2014. The lottery also revealed that December revenues were $180,110, which was actually up 7.4% compared to the same period last year, but lower than November 2015 when casinos brought in $182,664.

Because of the way Delaware structured its online betting laws, the first $3.75 million generated by online casinos was to be set aside for the state, which means that no company that has invested in online betting in Delaware is yet to make a profit from the venture. This is due to the small population size of Delaware, which only has about 1 million residents and is situated in a location where there is competition from larger gaming markets (New Jersey and Pennsylvania).
