Internet betting software developer Yggdrasil Gaming has announced that it has been granted a gaming license by the UK Gambling Commission and can now legally offer its games to punters in the United Kingdom.
Yggdrasil is based out of Sweden, but has offices in Malta and Poland and will now be able to offer its services to online betting sites that are based out of the United Kingdom. Yggdrasil has been on the scene for the past few years, and has developed a series of online slot machines and recently launched a progressive jackpot which has already paid out more than €1.1 million in prizes.
Commenting on the licensing Yggdrasil CEO Fredrik Elmqvist said, "The UK is a very important market and thanks to the way our games are performing, we've already received six signed clients and a great deal of interest. I actually believe that the UK slots market will develop like some Nordic markets have done over the past seven years. Quality and mobile will drive the UK slots market forward and we're looking forward to being an active part of that."
Yggdrasil Head of Legal and Compliance Mario Petraglia added: "We have already certified [our] games and platform according to UK remote technical standards. We look forward to a long-standing co-operation with the UK Gambling Commission for the mutual goal of offering exciting and safe entertainment to British players."
