Sports data firm Sportradar scaled back the launch of its Ringit! sportsbetting app after the controversy surrounding the daily fantasy sports market in the United States came to a head.
The company's app was designed to allow players to predict and bet money on NFL games, but that has been changed to avoid the controversy surrounding daily fantasy sports, which has popped up related to insider playing by companies who operate the games. The app will now feature virtual coins that is part of a social game, wherein no money changes hands, rather than the real money option the company targeted.
Sportradar is a sporting information company that puts out data regarding all major sports for media and research groups. The company currently boasts more than 250 clients across 5 continents.
