Seals With Clubs Owner Sentenced

This story was published more than 4 years ago.

The founder of the Bitcoin betting site Seals With Clubs has been sentenced in a Las Vegas courtroom this week for operating an illegal gambling system, wherein he is paying a heavy fine but will avoid jail time.

Bryan Micon was sentenced to two years probation and a fine of $25,000, but will avoid jail time after he plead guilty to his crimes. In addition to the fine Micone gave up 3.0996 in Bitcoins as well as $900 in cash and various computers that he used to conduct his business. If Micon cannot comply with the terms of his probation he will face two years in jail.

Micon's case was unique in that his house was raided by Nevada authorities earlier this year, after which he fled to Antigua to avoid extradition. Eventually Micon's attorneys struck a deal with authorities that saw Micon effectively getting a slap on the wrist and he came back to Nevada to face the charge.
