Macau October Revenues Fall, But in Line With Expectations

The betting destination of Macau posted a drop in revenue of 28.4% when compared to the same time last year, but those results were actually in line with industry expectations.

Analysts predicted that Macau's revenues would be down between 26-29%, and the area brought in revenues of 20.06 billion patacas ($2.51 billion USD), which is down from 28.03 billion patacas last year but is higher than the 17.13 billion patacas brought in during September. October revenues were boosted by the opening of the Studio City resort as well as China's National Day holiday.

Macau has faced financial difficulty in the last year, as VIP gamblers have avoided the destination due to a crackdown on corruption and excess by the Chinese government.
