Internet search and information portal Yahoo! is reportedly seeking to purchase the eSports organization Major League Gaming, looking to get into a "sport" that is becoming popular among viewers and gamblers alike.
eSports have proven to be very popular in the past few years, as large broadcasters such as ESPN and Twitch have broadcast tournaments showcasing various video games that are played by professional players. Various online gambling sites have seized on the popularity of the activity, offering action on games such as League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Dota 2, and StarCraft 2.
A source speaking on the condition on anonymity told conservative news outlet Breitbart News: "The talks are quite advanced and are about 95% complete. MLG have already been making plans for the future, especially in regards to CS:GO. The deal should be wrapped up before 2016."
