SlotsMillion VR

Internet betting site SlotsMillion Casino has announced that it has launched a virtual reality selection of its online casino.

The new casino is being provided to users of the Oculus Rift VR goggles, and players can engage in more than 40 games via the virtual room. The app will come in the form of a download, and will also allow players to see other VR players in the casino.

Commenting on the launch SlotsMillion Co-Founder Alexandre Tomic said, "One of virtual reality's biggest problems is to explain how mind-blowing it is to people who haven't tried it."

A video preview of the casino has been released to YouTube and can be viewed below:

This looks kinda neat, but the price of getting a huge PC that can handle a Rift and the VR goggles themselves is ridiculous. Hopefully they drop in price in the future.

Cool publicity stunt.

Though I'm willing to bet that the Venn diagram of Oculus Rift owners and slots players looks something like this:

Well I went and took a look and the good news is that you don't actually need a Rift to play the 3d casino. If you don't have one you just move around like a regular 3d video game using your keyboard. However there are only 40 or so games instead of the 900+ they have on the regular site and the banking and other stuff is not integrated into the 3d part.

The novelty factor is high but after about 30 seconds it becomes clear that it is a lot more convenient to just search for a game and click on it to start straight away than moving around a virtual space trying to find the game you want to play. For me, its just a gimmick that doesn't make the casino any better than it was before.
