Romania Warns Players to Avoid Unlicensed Sites

Romania's National Office for Gambling has warned residents of its country to avoid playing at unlicensed online betting sites, threatening a large $2,500 fine if they are found to have played at offending sites.

The gaming regulator issued the warning through a press release that threatened the fine in the wake of the announcement that it had blocked major betting sites bwin and bet365 after the groups had paid back taxes and gained a legal betting license.

Currently Romania blocks 147 online betting sites, and is being supported by the country's banks and internet service providers.
