Spain's gaming regulator DGOA has revealed that the country's online gambling turnover has increased by 24.5% in the first quarter this year, reaching €2 billion.
Gross Gaming Revenue for the first quarter this year was €77.4 million, up 18% from the fourth quarter and 13.4% from the first quarter. Active players were also up 10.4%, reaching 393,029 during the quarter. Sportsbetting brought in 50.2%, while online poker brought in 25.2%, online casino games 23.7%, bingo 0.9%, and other elements 0.06%.
Currently the following operators are licensed in Spain: Eurobet, Betclic, SKS365, Betcris, Novomatic, Gauselmann, Recreativos Franco, NetEnt and Bally Interactive. PokerStars, 888, bet365, William Hill and Bwin are the largest operators in the country though, holding roughly 90% of market share.
