Boylesports to Take Over Ladbrokes' Irish Retail Operations

Irish betting firm Boylesports is gearing up to take over Ladbrokes' Irish retail betting operations for a price of €25 million.

Boylesports has been eying the Ladbrokes sites for some time, and recently requested that a court turn over information regarding individual store betting turnover numbers. Ireland's High Court denied that request, but that has not stopped Boylesports from wanting to purchase the sites anyway.

Ladbrokes currently has 196 retail betting shops in Ireland, but the sites have struggled in the country, requiring Ladbrokes corporate to seek protection from Irish courts. If Boylesports completes the deal, it says it will possibly close eight shops in order to help turn operations around.
