Nevada's Attorney General Adam Laxalt commented this week on his state's prosecution of Seals With Clubs Owner Bryan Micon, noting the details on the arrest in a press conference.
Laxalt said that the prosecution is the first for online poker in the state, and is the first involving the Bitcoin cryptocurrency. He went on to say that Micon has been charged with operating the site between March 1st, 2014 and February 9th 2015 without a license. The state's top law enforcement official said that Micon was under investigation when a punter from Belgium lodged a complaint with the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Laxalt said that the sting operation revealed that Micon claimed that Seals With Clubs earned between $10,000 and $12,000 per month in profit. After a lengthy investigation law enforcement raided Micon's Las Vegas residence, where he was busy editing the site's webpage. After the raid Micon fled to Antigua where he remains.
Micon claims he is innocent and is asking for donations to help him fight prosecution from Nevada.
