UK betting firm Ladbrokes has revealed that they have developed a horse racing app that will be released for the Apple Watch.
The app was developed in Australia and has been approved by Apple, and is already sitting in the App Store. The app will exclusively focus on horse racing, allowing punters to keep up on various races and wagers without resorting to looking at their iPhone.
Commenting on the app Ladbrokes Australia CIO Scott Hutchens said, “Our new app is in the app store – ready and approved for the launch of the Apple Watch. Our technology focus at Ladbrokes is on innovation for our punters."
“We have seen the rise of mobile to the point where it is now more than 50 percent of total turnover – with the phone the primary device. The Apple Watch becomes another device to engage with our customers for more than just novelty."
“The Apple Watch extension communicates with the main Ladbrokes iOS App and will enable customers to actually bet directly from their wrist. It is unprecedented design and the simplest betting interface in the world.”
The Apple Watch is due to ship later this month. Apple has reportedly already sold millions of the watches, with current ship dates for the watch reaching into June.
