AGA Unveils Initiative to Combat Illegal Gambling

During a meeting with various Attorney Generals in Mississippi this week, American Gaming Association CEO Geoff Freeman announced that his organization is unveiling a new initiative to combat illegal gambling.

Freeman revealed that the initiative is named “Stop Illegal Gambling - Play it Safe", and will cover five different areas in which illegal gambling occurs. These sections include black market machines, illegal sports betting, internet sweepstakes cafes, and online betting. The group plans to study criminal activity patterns in order to develop "actionable intelligence" for state agencies.

Freeman said that the group's goal is to show that legal gambling is good, and hopes that the initiative will help drive punters toward legal betting. “Consider the fact that every dollar diverted by illegal operations is a dollar siphoned away from legal activities that contribute taxes to support education and public safety," said Freeman.
