The European Commission has announced that it has approved of the online betting laws put forth through Poland, helping prevent the country from facing sanctions for its own online betting rules.

Poland had originally stated that companies needed to be established in the country in order to offer online betting, but amended that rule to make it so any casino with a permanent presence in Europe can obtain a license. This brings the regulations into line with European law.

Currently there are only four regulated online betting firms in Poland and several unlicensed groups that offer betting services in the country. It is hoped that the new regulations will bring billions in betting revenues and millions in taxes.
