A man from Oregon is suing the Oregon State Lottery as well as gaming developers IGT, WMS, and GTech on the grounds that their auto hold claims on video poker machines cause a disadvantage to players.
Justin Curzin filed the lawsuit, which could transform into a $134 million class action lawsuit. Curzin claims that the auto hold feature on video poker machines put out by the above mentioned developers do not consistently maximize the odds of winning a hand, which is a misrepresentation of their stated purpose.
Curzin claims that the gaming companies and lottery are aware of this issue, but has not taken any action to improve the auto hold feature to maximize odds of winning, or even alter the perception of the player that the machine is working in their favor.
Games listed in the suit include Jacks or Better Poker, Triple Ace Poker, Joker's Vault Poker, and more.
