Las Vegas Sands Wins Trademark Infringement Case Against Chinese Sites

A US federal court in Nevada has awarded Las Vegas Sands a $2 million judgement against 35 websites that were using the Las Vegas Sands trademark.

Judge James C. Mahan awarded the judgement to Sands after he found the sites using the logo and images of the Las Vegas Sands Venetian Resort, which he ruled gave a misleading impression that the sites were affiliated with the casino.

Collecting on the judgement is going to be rough for Sands though, as the domains appear to be using privacy protection services through GoDaddy, eNom, and, which strives to protect user data for an additional fee. The sites are also based in China, which will further hamper attempts to collect.
