A controversial video slot released by the Gauselmann Group which depicted the Hindu God Shiva has been pulled from the market after protests from several religious groups, the company said.
The slot was known as Lord Shiva, and was pulled following an initial complaint by Rajan Zed, who then lobbied several other religions to pull the game.
Issuing a statement on the matter Gauselmann Chairman Paul Gauselmann said, “We understand the confusion and irritation concerning this…Therefore, we will immediately remove this game from our games portfolio and no longer offer it. At no point in time did we have the intention to insult the religious or ideological feelings of Hindus."
"We truly regret the confusion this has caused and you may rest assured that we will be even more diligent concerning the design and the designation of our games in the future.”
For his part Zed thanked Gauselmann for their apology and advised that other corporations should take the approach of ensuring that operations are conducted in a sensitive way when it comes to religion and culture.
