888Poker Looking to Boost Recreational Player Pool

This story was published more than 9 years ago.

Internet poker firm 888Poker has announced that it is looking to build its recreational player base in New Jersey through signing an agreement with World Tavern Poker, who organizes tournaments at various venues.

WTP currently boasts that it has more than 150,000 players in the United States, offering free to play tournament action throughout the week. 888Poker's agreement will allow the company to market themselves by offering free WTP chips through their own website, and awarding seats to live and online tournaments.

888Poker is hoping that the tournaments in New Jersey will draw in some renewed interest in its legal online poker site. It is currently unknown how many New Jersey WTP users there currently are, but apparently there are enough to bring in a big name sponsorship like 888Poker.
