Internet poker giant PokerStars has announced that it will begin clamping down on live tournament play for punters residing in regulated markets, no longer allowing them to buy-in through the PokerStars client.

The company posted an advisory on the twoplustwo forums on Friday which read: "Players on 'dot be', 'dot bg', 'dot dk', 'dot ee' and 'dot uk' licensed operations are no longer able to buy into live events sponsored by PokerStars using funds from their PokerStars account."

Players from Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, and the United Kingdom are the ones being targeted by the policy change, but will not affect those who currently have a PokerStars account and opt to log in through the international PokerStars client.

The policy change is now in place and has taken immediate effect.
