This story was published more than 9 years ago.

Social betting software developer ISIS Lab has announced that it will be changing its corporate name to Imperus Technologies Corporation, likely in a way to differentiate itself from the Middle East terrorist group.

The company did not say that the terror group directly influenced its decision, instead claiming that it selected the new name because “…a name selected to reflect the company's direction and corporate strategy as a premier, online gaming company.”

In order to change their name, ISIS will have to seek regulatory approval as well as changing their trademarks, web domains, and marketing material. The firm is reporting that they have begun these steps, hoping to get teh process changed as quickly as possible.

Based in Toronto, ISIS Lab develops gaming titles for clients in regulated online betting markets.

Geez that's a bit of an over-reaction.

Maybe Microgaming should change their games Isis and Mega Moolah Isis to God of the Sky or something...
