Betfair Pulls Betting Exchange From Austria

This story was published more than 10 years ago.

UK based betting firm Betfair has announced that it will stop offering its betting exchange within Austria effective July 14th, but will continue to offer its sportsbetting and casino services.

Betfair, which has operated in Austria since 2005, has made the decision to pull out its exchange due to the company's decision to focus on regulated European markets. The firm's partial pullout will not affect other operations, such as its casino product that offers Austrian punters access to slots and table games.

Recently Betfair has been in the midst of similar moves, announcing that they were leaving the German and Greek online betting markets. The moves have reportedly saved the publicly traded company millions of Euros in costs.
