Poland May See Liberalized Online Gambling Soon

This story was published more than 9 years ago.

Poland may soon see its online gambling market open up a bit after it was revealed that an amendment was drafted into the country's Gambling Act, which would make it easier for offshore firms to obtain licensing.

Under the new draft betting firms from other countries will have added opportunities to obtain licensing and pay taxes. Current Polish law requires companies to be based in Poland to offer online betting.

As part of the approval process, all applications for Polish licenses will have to be submitted in Polish, and companies would still have to be based within the European Union.

If the law is adopted by politicians, the new laws could be put into place by next year.
