Shortly after it announced it was leaving the Belgian online gambling market, Playtech's iPoker product appears to still be available to punters inside the country through Ladbrokes' country-friendly site.
The reasoning for the operational site is a bit of a surprise, but apparently is operating within the licensing regulations in the Western European country. Ladbrokes' Belgian site is a result of a partnership with Middelkerke Casino-Kursaal NV, which operates a land based casino in the country.
A third party mentioned in Ladbrokes' site details is Derby SA, which holds the following documentation from the Belgian Gambling Commission:
"The Belgian Gaming Commission, an institution responding to the Federal Department of Justice, has granted licences to Derby S.A. for organising and running bets (granted on 2 February 2011), as well as for organising and running bets through information society tools (granted on 02 April 2014, licence number FA+126426)."
"Derby has established a partnership with Middelkerke Casino-Kursaal NV (Mikas) for offering and running online casino games on the website www.ladbrokes.be. The Gaming Commission has granted an A+ Licence to Mikas (A+8107, granted on 02 April 2014) to run games of chance by means of information society tools."
